“Mom… I don’t understand what you’re asking of me…” Greece held onto his mother’s hand tightly. He knew what it had come to. Ancient Greece was falling, and turning into a modern, governed society such as Rome.
“Just listen to me child… There are three things, three wishes I want you to fulfill… Will you do that for me…?”
“W-wishes?” he asked tearfully. “A-anything mom. J-just say it…” She smiled back lovingly and gripped his hand.
“You’re still very young for a country… No one started out at seven-teen child… Be careful ok…?”
“Keep my ruins safe ok…? Don’t let them go to waste.”
She pulled him into a tight hug as she started to vanish. “Third of all… I was out exploring the vast lands when… I found an island… Right under Italy… And Carthage refuses to take care of it… I want you to care for this new country…”
Tears filled his eyes. “C-care!? How do I care for a country!? Who is this country anyways mom!? Who!?”
“I named it…. Sic…” but it was too late. She had vanished. There was no trace of her left. He looked to the floor and sobbed.
“No!!! I won’t take care of some stupid island mom!!! This land is more important than some island!!! I’ll do anything else but take care of some brat!!!”
“A new country~? Who~?” France exclaimed.
“Apparently Grandpa didn’t take that island yet…” Spain replied. “He’s a fool not to… I heard they have oranges…”
France raised his eyebrow. “What’s an orange?”
"It’s like a tomato but less bueno. You get it si?”
“No, I don’t. But no matter~! A brand new little sibling just waiting for us~! I hope it’s a girl~!”
“A chica? Why? We already have two little brothers…”
“Oui, but not a sister~! Sisters are better~! You can cuddle them, they play nicely, and they don’t suck like Romano~!”
“Take that back! Romano’s cute, cuddly, and muy inteliente~!”
“Please, I’ve seen more brains in English fools~”
With the swoop of two strong arms the boys were picked up by their grandfather, the great Rome. “No fighting~!”
“Hey! Grandpa! No fair!" France giggled. They squirmed a bit and finaly dropped out of his arms and hit the ground. “Hey Grandpa Rome? Why won’t you take that little island under Italy?”
“Yeah Grandpa! They have oranges! ORANGES~~!” Rome laughed.
“That island has a ruler though.”
“Who who who!?” France asked. “Is he powerful? You can beat him up no time~!”
“Greece.” He replied. “And I could couldn’t I~? But I’d rather not… The poor boy’s been through enough…”
“Like what?” Spain asked.
“Ancient Greece… She passed away today…” The boys gasped. They knew full well who Ancient Greece was.
“Will Greece be ok?” Spain asked sadly.
“I’m sure he will~” Rome replied. He looked up at the blue sky in his vast open land. “Besides… That island he has will bring him all the happiness in the world… He just needs to give her a chance…”
